Encinitas (Spanish for “Little Oaks”) is a beach community in Southern California, located in North San Diego County. Known best for its laid-back coastal culture, surf breaks and endless summer - Encinitas has something enticing to meet all interests. Whether you are plan to hit the beach at Swami’s, or would rather gaze the glimmering water from atop the cliffs at the luscious Meditation Gardens at the Encinitas Temple, it is guaranteed you will be in store for sunshine and a good time. Perhaps you’d like to bring your furry friends along with you for a swim. If so, Cardiff State Beach is just the place for you. Take the 101 South until you see the “Cardiff Kook”.

After you’ve had your fill of brilliance from the sun, head on over to Old Downtown Encinitas, rich in history and character. There you will find a plethora of restaurants and bars, as well as the iconic Encinitas sign and the historic La Paloma Theatre, a Spanish Colonial Revival style movie theater constructed in 1928 that still hosts concerts and movies today, including weekly showings of classics such as Jaws and The Rocky Horror Picture Show in 35mm!

Encinitas can be broken down into 5 distinct areas: historic Encinitas, new Encinitas, LeucadiaCardiff-by-the-Sea, and Olivenhain. The communities retain their identities and distinctive flavors. Encinitas is located approximately 25 miles north of the heart of Downtown San Diego, but is easily accessible by trolley. Average daily high temperature is 72 °F (22 °C). Temperatures below 40 °F (4 °C) and above 85 °F (29 °C) are very rare. Average daily temperature in the winter is 65 °F.
